The local towns and villages, steeped in history dating from ancient times, provide interesting destinations for short drives and day trips.

There is evidence of ancient settlements in the surrounding countryside. There are numerous interesting museums dedicated to the Roman and Greek history of the area, particularly in Narbonne, less than half an hour from the village.

The properties are ideally placed for a full exploration of the interesting and intriuging history of the Cathars, their way of life and the Albigensian Crusade which led to their demise. The nearest place of particular interest is Minerve, some 10 kilometres away, site of a vicious siege and the eventual brutal deaths of its Cathar inhabitants.

The locations of Carcassonne, with its fortified old Cité (shown above), Beziers and villages of the area featured in Kate Mosse's 'Labyrinth' are all within very easy reach.

Whether you just amble round or sit in a cafe and watch the world go by, or wish take advantage of the more formal organised visits arranged by local tourist offices, you will find this area has much to offer.
